Marist vocation team planning

15/02/2013: Australia

The new Province Vocation Team gathered at Cronulla for a three-day vision and strategic planning meeting. Time was spent reviewing literature from several significant Marist events in 2012 that were key moments in the lead-up to the commencement of our new province. These included the Marist Mission Assembly, the Brothers Vocation Forum, Jeff’s address at the start of the Province Chapter and the Chapter statement. With each document, we reflected on what brothers and lay Marists were saying to us about Marist consecrated life. We found the exercise affirming of our vocation and have now set ourselves the task of drafting the strategic plan for 2013.

At the conclusion of our time together we made a pilgrimage to St Patrick’s Church at the Rocks, Sydney, close to the site of where our Marist mission began in 1872. After Eucharist we made a simple public commitment to set out once, in a new and intentional way, to joyfully promote and encourage our Marist way of life among young people.

A big thanks to Tony Leon for the wonderful resources he has shared with us in recent weeks. His creative approach to vocations ministry has been a terrific inspiration for us in promoting the brothers’ vocation.
