First religious profession of Br Juan Bolaños Ordóñez

On Saturday 22 June, the parish of the Holy Family, in the Villa Hermosa quarter of  Medellín, Colombia, witnessed a simple and familiar event: Juan Bolaños Ordóñez  pronounced his first vows as a Little Brother of Mary, according to the spirit of Marcellin Champagnat.

Members of his family were present, including his mother, Mme Herfilia, and his brother Ancízar. BrothersLibardo Garzón, Carlos Alberto Rojas and Orlando Escobar represented the Marist Brothers outside Medellín. The two local communities – Santo Domingo Savio and the Novitiate – came together at the ceremony to celebrate this very special day with Juan. Friends and acquaintances from the Fraternities and the pastoral groups were also participants in the profession ceremony. Fathers Carlos Mario Posada, parish priest, and Osmar Valencia, curate, presided at the Mass animated by the novices.

After the ceremony in the parish, we went to the novitiate where we feted Juan in a spirit of brotherhood, to wish for him the blessings of the Lord, our good Mother and Saint Marcellin on the gift he has made of his life and journey as a Marist Brother. May the fidelity and love of the Lord accompany him always on his journey of faith and the gift of self.
