The 8th of April reminds us that there are only 1000 days to go before the celebration of the bicentenary of the foundation of the Institute, which took place on 2 January 1817. The Marist world is preparing over the next few years to celebrate and recall the story and, at the same time, to inaugurate a « new departure ».
Starting in October, the General Council will be suggesting a road to follow over the next three years, with each year having its own theme : for the first year, Fraternity, for the second, Evangelisation, and for the third, Mysticism.
We will be seeing the emergence of a number of initiatives starting from now. For example, for 8 April, the Province of « Mediterránea » is launching an initiative to mark the start of the process leading to the celebration of the bicentenary. Among other proposals, the invitation to publish on Twitter messages of hope underlining the reasons we have for celebrating the bicentenary, using the hashtag 1000x200 (#1000x200) – See here the suggestion in Spanish. The Province of « Mediterránea » has produced for the day a video which can be seen following.
