During the Chapter of the Norandina Province held at Los Teques, Venezuela, from Dec. 2 – 5, the Brothers elected the new provincial council.

Twenty-five Brothers took part, including 11 Brothers from Colombia, six from Ecuador, and eight from different cities of Venezuela.

The new provincial council includes Brothers Julián Olmo, Ismar Portilla, Héctor Colala, César Augusto Rojas Carvajal (Provincial), Orlando Escobar, Diego Antón and Leonardo Yepes.

Superior general Brother Ernesto Sánchez and general councillor Brother João Carlos do Prado participated on behalf of the general administration.

During his speech, Br Ernesto told the participants that “it is worth living the Marist life today. We have a unique and irreplaceable role in the Institute.”

At the same time, a group of 30 lay people gathered for a separate meeting to finalise their itinerary during a Mass they held on Dec. 5, where they publicly announced their commitment to the Marist charism.

At the closure of the Chapter, Br César affirmed that the presence of the Spirit of the Lord had been strongly felt during the Chapter, as well as the presence of Mary. He also invited the Brothers to pray for him.
