hspace=5Despite their many college commitments, the members of our Marist Young Adult program have been very involved in developing their own Marist lives and sharing that with others. Here are some of the things that they have been doing in the last few months:

MS Walk
On March 9th Marist Young Adults in Miami participated in a 6.2 mile “Walk MS” to raise awareness and funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Association. At the same time Marist Young Adults throughout the country were encouraged to participate in a “virtual” MS Walk that could be done anywhere. The event, organized by Jackie Fortich, Marist Young Adult Advisory Committee member, raised over $3500.

Palm Sunday Retreat
Eleven young adults in Miami gathered for a Palm Sunday retreat on the campus of Msgr. Pace High School. The theme of the retreat focused on preparing for the upcoming events of Holy Week. The retreat ended with mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Hialeah where students from Msgr. Pace High School performed a pantomime of Christ’s passion.

Good Friday/Holy Saturday Retreat
Twelve young adults in the NY/NJ area gathered for a Good Friday/Holy Saturday retreat in Esopus. Participants were invited to enter into the passion of Jesus the Christ through music, video and visual arts. Retreatants walked the Way of the Cross set to popular music, explored the effects of social sin through music videos and engaged in a visual meditation of the passion of the Christ using a variety of famous paintings. Those present also joined the Redemptoristine Sisters for their Good Friday liturgy.

“Retreat within a Retreat”
Eleven young adults participated in a Retreat within a Retreat during the Marist Encounter from April 3-6 in Esopus, NY. The young adult leaders were challenged to process their experiences in light of the theme Faces of God. Through scripture, video and shared prayer the participants reflected upon on how they see the face of God in others and how they are the face of God for others.
