During its last Plenary Session, the General Council approved the formation of a Commission for writing a working document on the vocation of the lay Marist.
The members of the Commission are:
Brothers
We thank the Provincials and District Superiors for their availability and their collaboration so that we can count on these people.
The work of the Commission will start with the analysis of the survey carried out in the Provinces. The text itself will describe the characteristics that profile the vocation of the lay Marist (1st part) and will suggest ways of association or of links of the laypeople with the Institute (2nd part).
The approved calendar anticipates a text one year before the General Chapter, which will permit its discussion and assimilation by the brothers and laypeople in view of eventual decisions at the 21st General Chapter. (The draft calendar allows for the prolongation of the work by one year if the Commission and the Council are not satisfied with the produced text.)
The first meeting will take place in Rome during the week of Easter (17th to the 22nd April). Two other meetings are planned: one in February 2007 and another in February 2008. As we advance in the production of the document, it will be sent to the Provinces (laity animation teams) for consultation and enrichment and it will be examined and approved by the General Council during its Plenary Sessions.
