The Bureau of International Solidarity
(BIS), based at the Marist Brothers’ world headquarters
in Rome, is the Congregation’s center for education,
advocacy, project coordination, and networking for justice,
peace, and solidarity, especially in fields directly related
to the welfare of children and young people.
The office was established in 1995, in response to a recommendation
of the 19th General Chapter. Currently it is staffed by a
director, administrative assistant, project coordinator, and
advocacy officer for the rights of children.
