For projects exceeding
the
micro-project program’s
funding limit, the Bureau works with its members and colleagues
to identify external funding sources that support the formation
of co-financing partnerships.
On the technical side, BIS offers assistance in analyzing,
writing, and presenting funding proposals. Once a project
has been approved and a grant received, the Bureau monitors
its progress, thus providing a valuable service to its funding
partners by making sure that everyone is adhering to all the
funding and reporting guidelines in place.
BIS encouraged the launching of new projects in Africa, Asia,
Latin America, the Pacific, and Eastern Europe in the areas
of Education, Development, and Formation.Major projects have
included the construction of new residence facilities, libraries,
and educational buildings at the Marist International Centre
(MIC) in Kenya and the Marist Asia-Pacific Center (MAPAC)
in the Philippines, as well as at formation centers in Sri
Lanka, Pakistan and Tanzania; an alternative education program
in Fiji; the expansion of educational and rehabilitation services
for handicapped children at the Lavalla School in Cambodia;
and a variety of projects in Guatemala, Venezuela, Colombia,
Bolivia, and Brazil.
