Since
its inception in 1995, the Marist Bureau of International
Solidarity has managed a modest fund for micro projects.
The primary aim of the program is to encourage
Marist Brothers and those open to the mission of the Institute,
to take active steps in solidarity by developing new and creative
strategies intended to help the poor, especially young people.
The program seeks to assist projects of evangelisation,
education, and pastoral and social development, primarily
in developing countries.
The amount of funding available for solidarity
micro-projects is limited and is determined each year by the
General Council. The Office of the Econome General maintains
the fund. Funding guidelines exist and must be followed when
applying for a Micro-Project grant. A decision for funding
takes into account several factors, including: the appropriateness
of the project proposal in relation to the goals of the micro-project
program; the information and documentation required by the
application process; the local contribution to the project;
and the availability of funds. |
