The city of Curitiba (Paranŕ – Brasil) will host, from 25 to 29 January 2010, the Ist National Congress of the Marist Youth Ministry (PJM). In recent years, the Marist Youth Ministry (PJM) has been extended to become an ambitious national project, bringing together young people from various Brasilian milieux, and associates who are seeking to live Christian spirituality in a special way and deepen their faith « in the manner of Mary ».
The Marist Union of Brasil (UMBRASIL), responding to the numerous requests coming from these groups of young Marists, proposes, through the National Commission for Evangelisation, the holding of the 1st National Congress of the PJM. With this event, we celebrate the national launching of the PJM, offering the young participants the chance of living interculturality, sharing formation experiences, exchanging on topics of concern to them, and the proposal of activities in which young people can truly participate.
The National Congress of the PJM will take place from 25 to 29 January at the « Colégio Marista Santa Maria » in Curitiba (PR), with about 600 participants coming from the different Marist Provinces of Brasil.
As Brothers and lay Marists, we dream of an evangelisation which helps youth to discover « the true face of God, who is Love ». « We believe in the spirit of creativity of young people who nourish their dreams on love and hope », « we believe in the divine element which exists in each young person, in a theology of youth, invested and impregnated with the symbols and signs of youth. »
In the National Congress of the PMJ we renew our commitment to youth, we unite with their realities, and we encourage them to be « agents of evangelization and artisans of social renewal ». In hope, we nourish « the utopia that another world is possible » for children and young people.
