Norbert Mwila

Norbert was born on the 24 of April 1969, his home Kawambwa is located in the North –Eastern part of Zambia, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He is the oldest son in the family of 7 siblings with 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

After completing Secondary School Education, Norbert opted to join the Marist Brothers and began the Postulancy at St. Paul’s Kabwe in 1991.

In 1993 he made his first profession and did his Post Novitiate formation at the Marist International Centre in Nairobi where he completed in 1996.

After two years of Secondary School teaching at St. Paul’s in Kabwe, he was appointed to Head St. Paul’s Primary School which was opened at the time for the local community.

In 2000, Norbert made his final profession and in 2005 he was appointed to do a Marist Formators’ course in at Subiaco Centre in Nairobi.

Upon completing the course in 2006, he served as Master of Postulants in Malawi.

In 2007 Norbert was appointed as Novice director at Matola in Mozambique.

He served on the International Commission for Brothers Today from 2013 – 2016.

In February 2016, an appointment as Provincial of Southern Africa came through, a ministry he started at the Provincial Chapter in August 2016. Currently, he is based at Sacred Heart College Community in Johannesburg, South Africa.

I look to the Chapter that will be Spirit-filled, Marian, with an equal and warmth of participation of both Brothers and Lay delegates. And that the vocations of the two forms of Marist Religious and Lay will be enhanced and fostered as partnership on the Mission of the Church.
