Samuel  Holguín

He was born in Durango (Vizcaya), on June 28, 1960. His first contact with the Marist Brothers was when he was five years old he went to the first class of primary of the school of professional formation that the Marist Brothers have in the city where he was born. There, he finished his studies obtaining an industrial Master’s degree at 19 years of age, and afterwards he entered the Novitiate in Maimon (Cordoba).  His first profession was on September 8, 1981.

He did his studies and obtained a degree in Teachers’ Training (Humanities), in the Marist University School Cardenal Cisneros (Alcala de Henares), and a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences, in the University of Navarra (Pamplona), where he worked in University pastoral ministry and founded, with other companions of the University, the NGO UAS (University students for Social Help).  In the former Province of the North he was professor, animator of groups of Christian life, coordinator of youth groups and Master of Novices. In 1995, he became coordinator of the Provincial team of educational pastoral ministry and Vice Provincial. 

In the 2001, he was elected Provincial of the North and after the Marist restructuring of the Marist Spain, on January 1, 2004, he became Provincial of the present Iberian Province.

At present, he is member of the Council of educational works (COE) of the Province and responsible for the “care of persons”, according to the management of the human resources of the Province.

The future of our Institute is based on our creative faithfulness, together with the Montagne of today.
